Memory Rehabilitation

On this site you will find plenty of useful information about memory and how to make the most of it.  The site is particularly aimed at people who have had a stroke or head injuriy or who are suffering from one of the progressive dementias such as Alzhiemer's Disease. Hopefully carers, both professional and informal, will find these tips for dealing with memory loss helpful too.

Memory Rehabilitation is all about using remaining mental abilities and strengths and make the most of what you have got.

The important thing to bear in mind is that memory is not like a tape or video recorder; memory is an active process. Laying memories down, storing them and retrieving them are all dynamic processes. Each of these processes can be made more difficult, or likely to fail. All of them can be made more easy, or likely to succeed.

The aim of this site is to be practically useful to people with dementia, stroke or other brain injury, and their carers. There is a free download of a 'Memory Book' available for sufferers and carers alike. If you like this site and find it useful, please let me know. If you have any advice or tips yourself that you would like to reach a wider audience please send them to me via the Contact page.
